Preparing Your Home for a Timber Floor Installation

Once the flooring and scope are agreed, prepare the property around the confirmed programme. Jimmy will explain the access and site conditions required for your installation. Delivery, acclimatisation and return-to-use timing depend on the selected product and method rather than a universal schedule.

Before delivery

• Confirm who moves furniture and which rooms need to be cleared.
• Remove fragile items from the agreed work areas.
• Agree on a suitable delivery and storage location for the selected product.
• Confirm parking, lift bookings and any building work restrictions.
• Let Jimmy know about access changes or other trades still working on the site.

Before installation starts

Keep the agreed route to the work area clear. Arrange for pets and children to stay safely away from the work. Confirm access to the facilities needed for the job. If some rooms must remain occupied, discuss the sequence in advance rather than assuming every part of the home can remain usable.

During the work

Keep access arrangements consistent and tell Jimmy if another trade's programme changes. Preparation may reveal conditions that were concealed under the old floor; agree how changes will be discussed. Do not walk on a newly installed or coated area until it has been released for use.

At handover

1. Walk through the completed areas and discuss any outstanding details.
2. Record the product and finish used.
3. Confirm when furniture, rugs and normal cleaning can return.
4. Keep care and warranty documents together.
5. Ask about suitable spare material for future reference.
